Product Description
From the co-author of the long-popular "Competition Obedience: A Balancing Act" comes a new book, "The Art of Proofing: Preparing Your Dog For Obedience Trials." Many exhibitors skip the crucial step of proofing when preparing to show their dog in obedience trials. During proofing, you expose your dog to more and more difficult distractions to teach him to maintain his concentration and complete the obedience exercises. This book will help you explore proofing, whether training by yourself, with a helper, or in a group. Author Adele Yunck draws on her extensive teaching and trialing background as she explores this fascinating subject.

3 out of 5 stars Other Book   September 10, 2008

Except that the other book you refer to is $188!!!! Quite a lot for a more organized book.

4 out of 5 stars Great Ideas   July 13, 2008

Has great ideas on how to improve your dog's performance in the obedience ring. Goes over the categories of dogs, people, noises, footing, weather, time of day, adjacent activities, smells, and sights. Also has proofs to do by yourself, with other people helping, and with other dogs.

I like that for most of the proofs Adele explains WHY; she tells what this proof could help with. There are also lots of pictures and diagrams.

Overall though, I *might* recommend the book Success is the Proofing instead of this on. I say *might* because I don't own the other book, but have looked at it. Success is the Proofing is definetly a longer book and the categories seem easier to find, better organized by type of proofs and better organized by obedience exercises. But either way this is still a good book if you run an obedience class or are just really wanting to improve your own dog.
